Weirdly, if I open the briefing avi files in Media Player, it plays the sound, but no video. And the videos on it wont play because it says vids: iv50 decompressor not found.
DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.
Virtual Dub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Cannot find 'vids:IV50' decompressor' Go to: Download.

I've even downloaded VirtualDub to try and encode the videos using a different codec, but it looks like the codecs haven't even managed to install correctly, because when I go to open the avi files, I get this error:Ĭouldn't locate decompressor for format 'IV50' (Indeo Video 5.x) This was tested on windows 10 and fixed the error for 'Video not available. game that you want to play contains video that is compressed with the Indeo video codec (like. I've created RegIndeo.bat as instructed by the FAQ - no difference when I run it. Video not available - cannot find VIDS:IV50 decompressor. I guess this may be because the fix was written for WinXP and Vista might have different file setups for that kinda stuff. The module "C:\games\thiefg\lgvid.ax" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005 If I run regsvr32 "c:\games\thiefg\lgvid.ax, it gives me this error message: I've downloaded these codecs and tried them:Īnd none of them seem to work even after all the fixes in the FAQ. I'm trying to install Thief Gold on Vista, and I've got the game working, but the videos are still eluding me.
